Chalkboards are still going strong in their popularity—and for good reason! They are the perfect marriage of beautiful and inspirational. I love ours because I am passionate about filling our walls with meaning. And the English nerd inside of me desperately needs a place to display the quotes I collect.
So in case you too are always on the lookout for great messages, I snapped a photo of each of the 12 latest quotes and phrases to grace our chalkboard. Maybe some of them will find their way onto your walls.
The only one that may need explaining is the last one. It is a line from the hymn “A Poor Wayfaring Man of Grief”—one of my favorites. Oh, that and “Don’t Mind the Madness.” I tend to scribble that one up on the days when it feels like the boys and the house have gotten the best of me. 🙂
And I couldn’t hit publish without one outtake. I usually try to switch out the quote when the boys are wrapped up in Curious George or something, but this time they caught me and had to get in on the action.
I always have my ears open for new ideas. Who knows—maybe I’ll post my next twelve! So help a girl out—
What is one of your favorite quotes or sayings?

I’ve got a quote that is brewing a blog post in me right now. Partially drafted, but moving slow on it as it is just heavy. Not quite inspirational that you might be looking for. I saw it on Pinterest: “Don’t judge me because I sin differently than you.” I was certainly convicted with that one.

Thanks, Leah. I really like that quote too, and I think we can all say we’ve been guilty of it! But it’s an important reminder, phrased in a way that kind of catches you off guard with the truth of it. Have a great day.

I love all these inspirational quotes- my favorite of these is “My soul hungers.” Grabs me somehow. Thanks for sharing! I don’t really have a favorite quote of all time, but I love ee cummings quotes, such as, “Once we believe in ourselves, we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight, or any experience that reveals the human spirit.”

Oooh, that’s a keeper, Sheila! And “My soul hungered” grabs me too. It reminds me to carve out time for the important things, which feed the spirit. Thanks for visiting!

I’m a collector of quotes too. I even have a Pinterest board dedicated to those that speak to me somehow (http://www.pinterest.com/BlissDiaries/quotes). Two of my most recent favorite ones are “You are loved… Called… Chosen… By God… For God” and “Patience is not the ability to wait, but the ability to keep a good attitude while waiting”. Now I just need a chalkboard! 😉

I just have to tell you – in regards to “don’t mind the madness” –when my children were younger, a dear older lady from our church dropped by my house one day when it was just a mess. I will never forget her telling me what a relief it was to her that the house looked like 4 children lived there! She went on to tell me that she just hates when homes where children live are perfectly put together because she can’t imagine what kind of fun they can possibly have there! I have never forgotten that and have always been so grateful to her for telling me that. After that, I didn’t worry so much anymore 🙂

I loved this! and pinned it! One of my favorites is “Start each day with a grateful heart”… simple but speaks volumes!

I am a quote lover too! Every quote you wrote and the ones that have been mentioned in the replies speaks to me on some level especially “Don’t judge me because I sin differently than you.” Oh my. That one says volumes and volumes.
Something that I say to myself very frequently that helps me make decisions over and over is, “It’s never wrong to do the right thing.” So simple, but it has helped me many times when I have been torn about whether or not I should do something-whether it is take food to someone, send a card, or make a phone call.

That’s a great message, too, Susan. Thank you so much!

Can’t get this one out of my mind :0) There are so many things that catch my heart! Although, I think I’m going to go for a white board instead- I’m not a fan of chalk! (the sound of it, anyway). I really like the quote mentioned above- “It’s never wrong to do the right thing.” That is something I want my kids to live!
Today I would write: “He restoreth my soul” or “My cup runneth over”. Maybe both.

This is awesome! I like all these quotations, and now you’ve inspired me to start doing this.
Here’s my hubby’s favorite:
“Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.” (Gandhi)
