I love home. What’s even better is looking at my home through a camera lens. It forces you to see it from an outside perspective, and somehow I appreciate the small things even more that way. Here is a glimpse into our home this past week . . .
Simple teacher gifts for the four most wonderful preschool teachers!
A little much-needed reading—and the subject of the reading in the background. 🙂 He really is a sweetheart, and I know there are even “stronger” wills out their than his, but I can already tell that our parenting of this little guy is going to need to be thoughtful and deliberate.
Most mornings, Chase wakes up around 6:30, but I’ve discovered that if I leave a few toys on the floor of our bedroom each night, he’ll play with them and putter around for at least twenty minutes. He usually doesn’t talk to us until we talk to him first. (Thank you, Chaser!)
Well, friends, my mom just drove 12 hours to see me, so I’m signing out until Monday! My posts have been a bit on the light side this week because one night last week I did not sleep a wink until almost 4am. My mind was racing between a million blog post ideas and a few regular ol’ life worries. It took me a few days to catch up from that, and I decided to be careful to pace myself with this little blog of mine. I have SO many thoughts I want to share with you, but I’ve also got all the time in the world to do it. Besides, I’ve got to practice what I preach and live life to the fullest. Thank you so much for reading. I’ll see you back here next week!
(Get ready for some marriage content—my favorite!)

What a creative gift! So cute! Also, I can completely relate to raising a strong-willed child. Mine is like yours in that he could definitely be more challenging than he is, but we’re going to have to be deliberate as well.
Enjoy visiting with your mom! 😉

I read Setting Limits for the Strong Willed Child. It has good information. Another book I found very helpful was “Raising your Spirited Child.” A little more on the reasoning behind why some kids tend to be “more” than others – in emotions, challenges, etc. VERY helpful over the years as I’ve worked with both of my girls!
Have a great weekend!

What a fantastic idea to leave a few things out for your son to enjoy when he wakes up early. Most mornings, I hear my 20-month-old daughter wake up and play in her crib for close to 30 minutes before she actually starts calling for me. I’d like to think that following your lead once she’s in a “big girl bed” will buy me those few extra minutes of rest!

Yes, exactly! That extra sleep, when you know your child is awake but they’re letting you relax a bit anyway, is so precious! Nothing feels better! 🙂 Good luck with the switch to a big girl bed! (And thank you so much for commenting!)

Oh my goodness, I just LOVE those teacher gifts! They’re done up so beautifully, and it’s a wonderful clutter-free gift.
I need more practice with seeing life through a camera lens. Your photos are lovely.

Thanks, Anne! I saw the idea on pinterest. I agree 100% about clutter. My mom is a school teacher, so I’ve seen her receive plenty of stuff she won’t really use regularly. Who couldn’t use strawberries? (Plus, it’s inexpensive!)
I’m not really the best photographer, but I do love the way it helps me see life. Plus, it’s a great way to practice! Have a great weekend, Anne!

I just love all your posts Erica- you’re too cute! Sure do miss you guys out here in Oklahoma! Hope all is well and have so much fun with your mommy! I’m jealous!

Hey girl! I really miss you too! It’s impossible not to notice when the life of the party is missing! 🙂 Are you blogging these days? I’m off to check it out!

I love your teacher’s gift! Great idea, easy, and cute.
I have been so busy, too. Blogging has been difficult. It’s hard when you have a million blog ideas racing through your head! I know that feeling too well.

What a great idea for teacher gifts! I would have loved a gift of strawberries when I was teaching, less fattening then cookies!
Thank you so much for stopping by & leaving a comment on my blog today!
Enjoy your time with your Mom!
Smiles,
Carol

I also loved your ‘teacher’ gift idea. Simple, tasteful, thoughtful, so sweet. Nice to teach appreciation to your own preschooler! It was fun seeing T’s school with my own eyes. Nice place, teachers, friends, & fellow parents! XOX

This is a fun idea. And hooray for your mom visiting!!! Have so much fun with her and give her a hug for me. I just love her and am so grateful she was my second mom when I lived in AZ. 🙂
