I love world maps. Someday I want to travel the world with Ryan, but I’m coming to peace with the fact that now isn’t that time. I like to stick close to my little guys, and somehow I don’t think they would be as interested in Greece as I would be. (Plus, I’m saving money so that someday I can have somewhere to display one of the beauties below!)
But aside from travel, I also love maps because they inspire me to have a global perspective. Just catching a glimpse of a world map instantly sends my mind to the women I met on a summer trip to Zambia, as well as the women I have read about (and felt like I came to personally know!) in Half the Sky and other memoirs. (Speaking of which, you must read that book!)
We deeply want to instill a larger perspective in our kids, too, which is why someday I hope to have a gigantic world map next to our dinner table. (To see a beautiful world map in an even more beautiful, Christ-centered home, click here.) Since I am always on the lookout for fantastic maps, I thought today I would share my imaginary collection:
1. The pumped-up colors on this one are fabulous. Via etsy seller, AncientShades.
2. I’ve had my eye on this great Scratch Off Map from Urban Outfitters for quite a while. Perfect for the world traveler who wants to show off where they’ve been.
3. This smaller, watercolor art print is gorgeous. I imagine it in a white frame hung above my bedside table. Via Etsy seller Clover’s Shop.
4. I can’t help but feature this one, because it is just so much FUN! Each continent is composed of antique cameras. Via Etsy seller The Pixel Prince.
5. I wish they had a bigger image on amazon, but this is one of my favorites, because it is accurate, up-to-date, and BIG. 55×39 inches. Maybe someday I’ll be showing you photos of this in a huge white frame, in either our dining room or playroom! A girl can dream!
If you see something you’d like to pin, remember click through and pin from the original source. Happy travels, friends!

Don’t wait! we hung a free map that came in the mail right over the kitchen table wall, and it provided endless conversation with Adrie starting at age 4. I like to think she has a pretty expanded view of the fact the world is much bigger than where we are, and she points out big countries on any map, too (Australia, Russia, Greenland lol). She still asks about countries and languages and begs to go to Paris.

I adore maps, too! I’ve never thought about hanging a large world map as decor and it’s a great idea. We have a wall in our family room that has individually framed maps from a Civil War map book. We love it and it’s definitely a conversation starter.

The watercolor print is my favorite, but you’re right, the large one from Amazon would be perfect for hanging in the dining room or play room. I love your desire to keep a global perspective- it’s so easy to get caught up in our own day-to-days and lose sight of the bigger picture of God’s plan.

This is awesome! This makes me see maps in a whole different perspective!

Thanks, Ashley! They’re fun, aren’t they?!

I have a map on my office wall… but it’s not cute. Walmart back-to-school special. With no pins cuz I’ve never left the continent…! It was fun for the kids and I to check out where the different countries are during the last olympics opening ceremonies. (I WILL leave the continent someday!)

Three year old Chase just started telling me about the Golden Gate Bridge because of your dining room picture! Then more about the San Mateo bridge! Cute conversation!
