Hey y’all—Happy Friday! I’ve read, watched, worn, and even eaten some awesome stuff lately, and I felt like sharing! I hope you make a few new discoveries from this list!
Reading
The Remnant Chronicles. I do not remember the last time I enjoyed a series this much! I ate up every page. It’s a YA, dystopian trilogy, I fell in love with the characters, and I stayed up too late too often, which is obviously the mark of a good book.
The Girl of Fire and Thorns trilogy. For as much as I loved the Remnant Chronicles, I’ve gotta say: this series was not far behind. Similar concept, in some ways. Great, feisty protagonist. Sometimes escaping into another world is just the ticket. Happy sigh.
Love Warrior. My feelings about this book are a bit complicated, but I would read it again in a heartbeat for the things I took away. (My top 5 takeaways here.)
Watching
Poldark. Oooh I so enjoyed binge watching this PBS Masterpiece series. Dreamy main character; loveable, relatable female roles; British accents; historical conflict—good stuff, I tell ya. Can’t wait for season two! (I watched via Amazon Prime Video.)
The Paradise. Made by BBC, this is a fun series for those who love British period dramas. A little lighter (and at times, a little less buyable) than Poldark, but deliciously fun nonetheless. (I watched on Netflix.)
Wearing
These joggers from Lucy. On repeat. The material is soft and not-thin-but-not-thick. They’re slim through the leg (not baggy). Just an all-around win. I love everything Lucy makes (did you know their parent company is North Face?), because the quality is awesome and sizing is generally consistent. And they always have good stuff on sale.
It’s still warm here in my part of Northern California, so my summer wardrobe staples are still working hard for me. 🙂
Oh and what I WISH I was wearing? The Clé de Peau radiant fluid foundation. The youtubers pointed it out to me and now I’m in trouble! Anybody have any less expensive alternatives? I need a GREAT, medium-coverage illuminating foundation for dry skin…
Eating
Lasagna soup! We grew so many tomatoes this summer that I roasted batch after batch and lightly pureed them into marinara. One of the best creations with my homemade sauce is lasagna soup. I don’t follow the recipe any more, but this is a great one to start with. Enjoy!
Loving
Why Absolute Minimalism Will Never Feel Like Home. Like Emily, I’m something of a minimalist and something of a house lover. You don’t have to be one or the other.
The Sensitive Ones Will Save Us: Here’s to the Canaries. A beautiful video to help you finally see the good in your sensitive personality. We need you.
Find Yourself, Free Yourself. If you’re unsure of your footing right now, this free series of 5 lessons written by a good friend of mine might be just what you’ve been looking for.
Motherhood and the Allure of the Midnight Hour. I felt a disproportionate sense of relief when I read this. Someone GETS me! I want—I need!—to go bed on time each night, but I want—I need!—to relish the short amount of time I have to myself each night. Oh the conflict!
Change Your Story. I have a story or two to re-write in my own life, so this concept has been on my mind a TON lately. Great post by Michael Hyatt.
Any recent discoveries you need to share with ME? Spill it, my friends!
Happy to be linked up with Leigh Kramer’s “What I’m Into” series.

I have recently found the best foundation ever. Jennifer Bradley 4 in 1 camera ready foundation. It is $48 and lasts about 6-8 months with every day use. I am not kidding, it is amazing. I recommend it to anyone looking for a new foundation! She also has a form you can fill out on her website (JenniferBradley.com) and she will color match you. I never could find the right color, but this foundation blends so well it looks like I’m not wearing any (and I wear medium-heavy coverage).

Oooh fun! Thanks for the recommendation! I have a huge soft spot for makeup. 🙂 🙂 I’m off to check this out!
Ragil (Portage and Main)
I love your September favourites! I really enjoy seeing interesting things people are reading, wearing, eating, etc. I definitely enjoy the loving part: that minimalism and change your story articles. Thanks for sharing! Xo

Thanks so much for reading, Ragil! I’m really glad you enjoyed those two articles. I thought they were keepers too. 🙂

I have never heard of lasagna soup! We’ll have to try that out.
And oh, how I relate to that midnight hour struggle. I need sleep and I also need alone time. I think what I really need is an extra two to four hours in every day. Could we make that happen, somehow? Because that would be best. 😀
Erica Layne
But really! If we could JUST figure that out… 🙂 Thanks for reading, friend!
Christy
I loved the article about changing your story! I recently learned about the power of positive affirmations and have requested Louise Hay’s book “How to Heal Your Life.” It’s amazing how we can literally reprogram our inner dialogue and change our life — powerful!

Hey Christy! Did you hear about this book on the Lively Show?! I just recently hear Jess talking about it on there and added it to my must-read-SOON list! Glad to hear a second endorsement!

Oh, I hadn’t realized that the third book in the Remnant Chronicles was out! I loved books 1 and 2, so I’ll definitely have to get on the library waiting list for book 3
Marcia from Organising Queen
Loved reading your list. But most of all, I love your WHY 🙂 We are kindred spirits.

Thanks so much, Marcia, for your kind words! Off to check out your blog!
