We’ve been in our townhome since the start of this year, and we’re loving it as much as ever! I’m so grateful for the previous seven years we spent in a small, minimally updated 1970s condo, because it makes me SO VERY HAPPY to be where we are now.
You may remember that we didn’t bring much with us from that condo, which has meant a true fresh start. Since my last update, we got curtains! I think they add the pattern & texture that this room really needed.
The boys’ room is coming together! I think it’s a great space for them to call their own, with a place to hang their artwork and wall-hanging ledges to stash their most-loved books.
Oh hey, we got a bed!
I have further dreams for this room that involve properly framed windows and a shiplap wall, plus these sconces above the bed… But for now we’re good!
Besides, all I really need are these people. 🙂
For any fellow house lovers who might like to get caught up, here’s the rest of our home’s story:

I love it all! So much. Those curtains in your living room were a perfect touch. And how did you spend 7 years in that condo? Your gorgeous place now was definitely well earned!

Yes, I am a house lover! Your home looks beautiful. It is coming together so nicely! I am also excited about the bunk beds! I suspect the boys love those. I, at home, am also coming to love our blue-purple paint! It took a little while, but it has really grown on me. I’ve got lots of exciting ideas for how to spice it up further. Sending love!

Thanks, Leigh! I really love the bunk beds. Just this morning, I thought Quinn was asleep in her room but I found her on the top bunk under the covers with trenton. Bunks are just fun. 🙂
And I am SO glad to hear that you’re loving the paint color. I bet it’s really pretty and calming!

I love it! It’s so light and airy. I think we might have the same couch, but mine is dark gray. I especially like what you’ve done with the boy’s room – it’s cozy and so timeless, it will last them long into the future.

Thanks so much, Emily! We really are so grateful to be here. And yay for couch twins! I bet you’re spending a lot of time on yours right now with the little man…! Big time best wishes!
Autumn
I realized I hadn’t commented in a while and wanted to say hello again! I got your quarterly newsletter this morning and it really had some beautiful sentiments- thank you! 🙂 I have a post in my drafts about self-care right now and I’ve definitely been needing that.
I think your townhome looks so cozy and peaceful. It is so amazing how your place feels when you make an upgrapde. Every little thing makes a HUGE difference.
I love your widget on the side that has every post or quarterly newsletters. What widget is that?
Erica Layne
Hi Autumn! I totally thought I had responded to your comment, but it looks like…brain lapse! Thanks so much for this. It was GREAT to hear from you, and your words about my newsletter made my day. 🙂
I wish it was a widget I could pass on to you, but my web guy custom made it. Good luck finding one – I bet you will!

Your place just looks so amazing! I wish you and Alaina could come teach me how to simplify my life and minimize my stuff, and help me decorate. It seems like how matter hard I try I am just drowning in STUFF. (I’m sure it doesn’t help to have 7 people in 1700 square feet. 😉
Erica Layne
I wish Alaina and I could too! Not so much because we (or really, *I*) have so much to offer, but just because it would be FUN to hang out! 😉
And I so get the feeling of drowning in stuff. I’ve been there. Even now, with three floors and a girl who carries stuffed animals and books everywhere, there is a LOT of shuttling of stuff. Ugh.
Our last move was hugely helpful, though, in that we eliminated a very good amount of our things. I’m vigilant now!
Good luck, girl! I love your kitchen!!!
Jessie
I am LOVING your home progress! I just read about your progress in getting a townhouse! We are still in the tiny 2 bedroom apartment feel (even though they call them townhomes, our’s is super tiny!) Love how open and wide your townhome is. I literally feel my kids are on top of me and we are all in each other’s business haha! Hopefully in a year or so, our time will come where we can purchase a home! Definitely makes me humble and grateful tho. I do have one question, WHERE did you get your couch? I’ve been dying for one that color and style. Thank you for sharing!
