After this post about the terrible threes, I feel like it wouldn’t be fair to my big-hearted eldest to neglect mentioning that he seems to have snapped out of it. He can be so strong willed, but thankfully, it is balanced by a desire to please and an ability to reason that usually wins out—eventually! (And knock on wood, his difficult spells usually do not last very long!)
He worked so hard writing his name on his Valentines. But do know how much patience it takes a three-year-old to write T-R-E-N-T-O-N ten times? Eventually he just wrote Ts and I filled in the rest. 🙂 Love that cheesy smile.
My youngest is going through a phase where he acts afraid of everything. (I don’t think he IS afraid; he just likes the attention!) He was crying on the floor the other night while I tried to vacuum. Trenton knelt by him, wrapped him in his arms or stroked his face, and repeated “It’s okay, Chasey” and “I love you so much” for ten straight minutes while I vacuumed!
Under the obstinance is a heart of gold!

I love that you posted this. Sometimes it seems like it is so easy to focus on the bad moods/negative things, but underneath it all there are great qualities that we need to recognize. After a hard day with a 2 year old, this helped me to think about the good qualities instead.

Thanks, Jessica! Sometimes during those rough patches it takes me a while to see those good qualities, but they always come to my attention again eventually!
