Because sometimes on Fridays, you just need a little laugh . . .
Before you had kids, did you ever wonder if you would recognize it if you had a baby who looked a little funny? You know how some babies have angelically round heads and smooth skin? Well, others have scraggly hair, cradle cap, and pointy ears!
My little Chase fulfilled the latter, especially from about months 3 to 9.
Ryan and I look back on this picture of him regularly for a good chuckle. We called him our little garden gnome. Our baby yoda. Can you see it?
I guess I turned out to be the kind of mom who could recognize it after all. ๐ However, it didn’t worry me, because I was confident he’d grow into himself, and he has. Maybe this is how moms feel when their children go through the awkward preteen stages!
Anyone else have a garden gnome baby?
Courtenay
Oh my goodness! I love your little garden gnome! Kenna was just angry-looking all the time. ๐ It was adorable.

That’s so funny, Courtenay! Now that I think about it, my Quinn has a pretty good little angry look, even when she’s not angry. I think it goes with being a newborn and needing to grow into their own skin. ๐

Our Ethan was a little funny-looking as a newborn but we didn’t realize until we compared him to pictures of his brother (ssh!). At the time we thought he was the cutest baby in the whole world; it worked out well for us. ๐

Aw, that really did work out well! I think we would have been in the exact same boat if Chase had been our first. And of course, we still ate him up, even during the yoda phase!

Oh so funny. I think he’s a beautiful little garden gnome! Sometimes I look at my girls and wonder what they’ll look like when they’re 15, and 20, and 30. Always changing, always growing. And so are we, right? I hope you’re not just surviving but thriving during these early weeks with the tiny one. Blessings to you today, Erica!

I always wondered that! Glad I’m not the only one. I was positive I would have ugly babies because I was so mean in my head about other babies that I deemed not very cute. But I always feel like the babies I think look the funniest end up being the children I think are among the cutest. So when I had my boys I tried hard to make sure I wasn’t just being biased and I of course just knew I had lucked out and really did end up with the cutest boys in the world. And then I look back at pictures and think…no, that’s not what he looked like, is it? He must not have been very photogenic that day. ๐ And I’m with you, it was that 3-6 month stage that my oldest seemed to have gone through a funny stage. But it does depend on the picture. I was oblivious then and clearly in denial now though. LOL ๐

I just think you are both adorable!
