Isn’t it amazing the emotion a children’s book can carry? I can already tell that when I stumble across Harry and the Terrible Whatzit when my kids are grown, I’m going to break down in tears and then hopefully RUN to read it my grandchildren. 🙂
It’s a thrilling little story of a boy who believes there is a no good, terrible monster down in the basement. When he goes down to rescue his mom, he learns that fears get smaller when you face them.
If your little ones are sensitive, you may want to hold off until they’re old enough not to worry about a monster in the basement…or under the bed…or in the closet. Our boys, though, have loved it from the getgo. They could read it again and again (and we often do!).
Our copy is especially meaningful because our kids’ great-grandmother wrote on her own well-used copy and sent it to us not long before she passed away.
Now I’m off to banish a whatzit from the basement! You all have a great week!

I get choked up when I remember a book from my childhood and I think it’s going to be a thousand times worse with books from my babies childhood!

Exactly!! I’m going to so sappy when they’re grown. I’m bad enough now, and they’re still little!
