When we left to celebrate our ten-year anniversary in Acapulco, I knew I’d want to make a photo book of our trip. I read this post {Top 5 Places to Print Photo Books} and immediately knew Montage sounded like my kind of service, particularly for their ease of use and their thick, lay-flat pages.
I didn’t need a lot of text options, but I did want to show off the photos, and I didn’t want to spend weeks on it (like I usually do when I make a Blurb book).
Family Photo Books with Montage Book
How Long
With Montage, I made my first album in one evening, including gathering and doing light edits on my photos. The time I was actually in the Montage software? An hour and half. (And when I made my second book, even less!)
How To
To make a book, all you have to do is gather you photos into a folder on your computer and then drag & drop into Montage. Montage then auto-populates your photos into spreads. I think their software uses the photos’ timestamps to group them, because mine were arranged pretty darn well with zero help from me.
After that, you can re-arrage at will or cycle through several different layouts for each spread.
It’s easy, and the end product is beautiful!
I loved it so much that right after my first book arrived, I gathered my favorite photos from the professional photoshoots are family has done (my good friend Angelica has taken our pictures four times now!) and made book numero dos.
How Much
I paid about $75, including tax and shipping, for each of my books (size 8×8), and they took about a week to arrive.
A Tip for the Road
My one tip is to edit your photos nice and bright to avoid having them look a bit dull in the book. Their print quality just seems to favor light and vibrant photos.
Oh and if you sign up for their emails, you can jump on your book project when they’re running a promotion. I got my second one for 25% off.
If the photos weren’t enough, here’s a video of our travel book. It definitely gives a better feel for the thickness of the pages and the leather cover. (Don’t mind the family chatter in the background.) 🙂
Have you made a photo book lately? Who did you use, and how’d it turn out?
I’m a new Montage affiliate, so if you make a book through a link from this post, I’ll earn a small amount of money at no cost to you. Thank you!
