I can’t remember the last time I didn’t have something substantive to post on a Monday, but at least I have a good reason today! Our weekend was full, mainly with my husband’s swim from Alcatraz on Saturday. It was so much fun hanging out on the (freezing) beach with my little guys, waiting for Ryan (and a ton of other racers) to swim in.
As with any athletic events Ryan or I participate in, it was a great opportunity to talk to Trenton about how our family does hard things. I love the atmosphere at races, from the old guy who posed with a toy shark in his mouth at the end to the young woman who schooled everyone by winning the thing in less than twenty-five minutes—and without a wet suit!
Point is, I’m proud of my husband today. And even happier he didn’t get eaten by a shark! The name of the event was Sharkfest, after all. Imagine what I’ve been imagining for the last several months. 🙂

I am so happy for your little family. Also I am glad you were able to find the camera cause it seems like everyone else was having a hard time. I miss you guys!

Thanks, Sarah! Miss you too!

That looks chilly! I’m amazed at anyone who completes in those swimming races! How proud you must be 🙂

Sharkfest? Yikes! What an exciting family activity, and a great example for your boys. I’m laughing at your son’s Oshkosh B’Gosh sweatshirt. That’s my neighborhood – Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Or thereabouts. Kudos to Ryan!

Oh, fantastic! I saw that on the news. It was chilly this weekend, too. Of course, it is August in San Francisco, right?
Yay for your husband!
Paula
I can’t imagine getting in that freezing water! This race sounds like an exciting one.

You should come out and do it, Paula! It was pretty amazing to see the variety of people doing it. I cannot even fathom doing it without a wet suit; I’m barely willing to put my feet in our NorCal water, much less swim a mile and a half in it!
