I gave myself most of January to pin down my goals for the year. They’re pretty simple; not many are even quantifiable. But I think they’ll help me move in the right direction in 2014! I may even pop back in at the end of each month with a quick progress report. I mean, SOMEone’s gotta keep me accountable! And maybe it’ll help you remember your resolutions throughout the year as well.
Family
-
Focus on conversation at family dinners. Say one thing we’re thankful for most nights. (Inspired by an article in the WSJ and another in the Atlantic.)
-
Have a family meeting one night a week, where we discuss three questions: (1) What did we do well last week? (2) What didn’t go so well? (3) What can we do better this week?
-
Consistently have the boys do their daily jobs, and get them more involved in meal prep and cleanup.
Health
-
Less sugar, fewer carbs, more green smoothies.
-
Do one athletic event.
Personal
Be WARM (my word for 2014).
-
Read scripture.
-
Become a hugger!
-
Reinvest myself in my friendships.
-
Give service.
Business
-
Do 8 guest posts in 2014.
-

I have yet to really nail down my 2014 resolutions, so I’m glad to see it’s still cool to be making them. 🙂 I like your goals to “become a hugger” — I am not a naturally touch-oriented person, and having little ones makes it even harder to connect physically with my two older kids. It has to be a very conscious thought for me, but I think it’s important, ever since listening to this podcast:

Always enjoy your blog. 🙂

Oooh, thank you, Beth! I’m always looking for something to listen to, especially while I clean! (Naturally, I only hear about half, thanks to the kids…but still!) Usually it’s TED talks, but I’ve been meaning to look into the Power of Moms podcasts, so thank you for a great place to start!
And it’s totally still cool to write resolutions. 🙂

Erica, I laughed at “become a hugger” and hope you accomplish this 🙂 I’m not a big hugger myself but you have inspired me–though maybe I’ll just branch out to arm pats and work my way up to hugs. Can’t wait to see how things evolve here this year!

I still need to make my goals. And work my way up to hugs too…
