This is how our little Chaser felt about a simple family outing to a baseball field to launch stomp rockets:
Watching your child’s eyes light up is one of the finest joys in life; agreed? I actually took that photo because I loved Chase’s hand on his daddy’s leg. Those bright eyes were just a bonus.
As I sat on the grass watching two little blond heads toddle after their father, searching the outfield for a lost rocket, I had this moment when I suddenly remembered the pre-marriage Ryan & Erica and reeled at how we could possibly be here now. That guy who used to hold my elbow possessively in public—even before we started officially dating—has become the guy who plays tigers on the floor with my boys and leaves his wallet and keys (and shoes and gum) all over our house. Maybe this little vision was brought on by the fact that he was wearing a shirt from our dating days (Racer’s Bike Shop in our college town). Whatever the reason, I’m grateful for the reminder of how far we’ve come.

I'm a little crazy at how much I reminisce about our early days. Granted, it's been less than 3 years for us, but there are many, many moments I am enthralled with where we began and how we got here.
Truthfully, I think reliving those moments even for a nostalgic moment increase your gratitude for the here and now, and your attraction for the one who leaves gum and shoes and stuff all over the floor 😉
