I’m excited to be guest posting today at Beauty Through Imperfection—my friend Paula’s heartfelt blog encouraging wives and moms.
I wind along the two-lane highway that leads to my home. As it always is at this time of day, the road is densely shaded. But with the sun low behind the trees directly in front of me, every now and then I am blinded when—for a spit-second—there is no tree to block the sun’s brilliance.
Those moments of startling brightness are few and far between here along the 92, but they are painful enough to keep me squinting for the rest of the drive. I don’t trust the shade.
To see how this relates to my marriage and maybe even yours, please hop over HERE with one click. Thank you so much!

Brilliant–and it’s not just marriage we shield ourselves from; there are so many other things. One thing I admire about children is their ability to be fully present in every moment, embracing every emotion fully as it comes. It’s so much harder as an adult. I loved your post.

Well said, Leigh! Before this post went up, I had Ryan read it, and I actually said out loud, “Maybe I should apply this to life in general, not just marriage.” It definitely applies to much more!

LOVED this post over at Paula’s place! I found her through Playdates, and found you through her — and I’m glad I did. Nice to “meet” you. Purposeful mom — I like that!
