Have you heard of six-word memoirs? Since the project debuted in 2006, one million adults and teens have shared their six-word stories. Some of them are hilarious (“weary *and wary* of ice buckets”); some are heart-wrenching (“I’ve been homeless since you died”).
I can’t get enough of these six-word glimpses into stranger’s hearts and minds, and I love brainstorming how I would fit my life into six words. Maybe…
Wipe counters, wipe tables, wipe bums.
Fill up little hearts, fill mine.
Others six-word memoirs that stood out to me from the project:
We are all made of stories.
Scariest monsters lurk inside our souls.
Thwarted a tantrum, rinse and repeat.
I shop, therefore I am (poor).
Build your wings as you fall.
She never stopped hearing her heart.
Be a person, not a persona.
Picture your unhappiness in its underwear.
Born nouns: we add the adjectives.

Over the years celebrities have joined the fun, with my favorite being Mario Batali’s: “Brought it to a boil, often.” Kinda makes you love him, right?
So, how would you sum up your current stage of life in six words? I’ll even let you vary on the word count since you’re thinking on the fly. 🙂
Ashlie
I love this! I need to think about mine and get back to you 🙂
Missy June
I love these so much! Mine today –
Treasures are found when I seek.
Rachel T.
“Bouncing the baby, taming the toddler?” I will have to think about this! This is a fun idea.
Erica Layne
Hahaha, perfect for you, Rach! I’ll add, “she deserves a hot bubble bath.” Because you do!
Sierra Burton
These are so great! I think mine today is “She is still going, and that’s enough.”
I know its seven words but I just couldn’t narrow it down ;).
Erica Layne
Love it, Sierra!! I think I’m gonna adopt that as mine today too. 🙂
Tove Stakkestad
Oh wow – this is so beautiful!
Mine would read something like this:
“In constant search of more time”
“Full heart, shining soul, four boys!”
Erica Layne
Haha, agreed about the move time thing! And four boys? That is awesome. Thanks for popping over, Tove!
Kate Love
Love this idea. Here’s mine for today:
Everyday, blessed, loved, being here now.
Thanks for starting my day with a prompt and a space of gratitude. <3
Erica Layne
Love it, Kate. You are in a GOOD place, if those are your six words. 🙂 I’m so glad for you. Enjoy your weekend!
