One of the things I appreciate most about pinterest is that pins are arranged newest to oldest, as you scroll down. On my Home board, I can actually see my tastes evolving, which is so fun! I’m pinning more airy and almost spartan rooms. I’m intrigued by Scandinavian influences. I’m in love with white!
Because I am currently a renter of an un-updated 1970s condo, I love to daydream about how I would design a house if I (a) actually had one and (b) had some money to “invest” in it. π According to my current tastes, these three features mark my personal style and make fantastic rooms:
1. In reference to that top photo – modern & minimal. I’m gravitating toward rooms that have clean lines and minimal accessories.
2. Pops of contrast. Where I typically am all about a neutral base, I do love a good pop of contrast in a room. I actually learned to appreciate this concept from my husband. (Thanks, babe!) Also, warm woods.
3. A hint of pink. In my opinion, every room is just that much better with a hint of pink. Maybe not as dramatic as a pink couch (although I alway adore them), but a bit of pink in a pillow, a throw blanket, some artwork or flowers? Sign me up!
Now whenever I get a small house whose walls I can paint and flooring I can rip out, it is going to be beautiful. And you’ll all be invited. π
Check back soon for the same exercise as it applies to my clothing choices!
Last thing. Heavens to betsy, THANK YOU for voting for this blog! I’ve been so touched by all of you who let me know that you voted, shared the link with your friends, and watched the clock until you could vote again. Seeing my little profile go from #58 to #13 (and hopefully still rising!) has been so much fun! A bit addicting, actually. π
Feel free to vote again today, until 4pm PST. I figure it can’t hurt to make the top ten!
Regardless, I am just so grateful. Whether I’ve met you in person or not is irrelevant! You are ALL the best! What an amazing network I am blessed to have.

Just voted again; it looks like you’re tied for 10 now! Congratulations!

Thank you SO much, Mary Leigh! I’ve been overwhelmed at everyone’s kindness!

You can come and decorate my little house! I am struggling with the main living areas and I like your taste! I really need to get rid of our nice BLUE carpet (it’s on the top of my list).

I am also moving more towards the minimalist thing (mostly out of my deep fear of becoming a hoarder π but I can’t help but to get super pumped about tons of color! I voted for you again–you totally rock and should definitely be in the top 10 π

Oh, how I love your decor choices. But the funny thing I’ve learned about myself is that I don’t understand white in a decorating sense. Every time I try to “go white” I end up putting lots of color back in because it looks too sterile. I know it’s just me though; some people can do it beautifully!
Liz
I’m way to scared to use white around kids. But I’ve found I tend to have very blah tastes with all black frames, etc. And when I do choose things with colors I generally go back to my default of blue. Boring. I need someone to guide me in decorating–I know nothing. But I also don’t have the $ to spend on it, so it works for us. π

I’ve noticed a similar progression in my pins! The cottage look is giving way to Scandinavian style. I love the simplicity of the style, and my husband loves the modern, industrial look, so Scandinavian has a lot of the elements we both like π

How fun that our styles are going the same direction. I think it’s the pinterest influence. π Happy decorating to us both!

OH my goodness…these pictures have me drooling! I would love to be able to have the time (and budget!) to re-decorate my house…so many beautiful options!
Erica {let why lead}
Um, yes, budget has a LOT to do with it! It’s fun to dream, though! Have a great evening, Julie!

You have great taste! Can’t wait to see you decorate a home. It’s going to be gorgeous.

Haha, selecting gorgeous images maaay not translate to actually decorating a beautiful home. Who knows! I’ve never really done it before, so I may end up being terrible at it! Of course, I do little things in our home, but I’ve never gone all out because we’ve never lived in house we actually owned. π Someday!!
Alana @ Sparrow + Grace
It’s pretty much the same for me. I can pin beautiful images like nobody’s business. Actually decorating a space on my own? Completely different story! One day, though… one day!
Erica {let why lead}
I love it. Me too. Pin on!
Ashley
Maybe I should start a board for the elusive “some day”… π

I reallllly need to remember to add a disclaimer to all posts like this. I in no way see myself having a house just like ANY of these. Just maybe one that’s a little closer to those than what I have now. π

Congratulations —- you are number 10 in the top 25 ! Good work!!
