this and that

What I’m Into | February 2017

Reading

The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up. Something about me resists super-trends until they’ve died down. So now that everyone else in the world has read this book, I am. 😉 As you know, I’m already pretty minimal, but this has inspired even me to donate another trunk-full and to continue to be mindful about what I bring into our home.

Watching

Poldark season 2. Oh the angst! Please tell me some of you have watched it so we can discuss. As my good friend said when I texted her about it, “WHAT THE ROSS?” I still love that show, though. Can’t wait for the next season!

Wearing

A forest green faux leather jacket! YES. On sale and also in black.

As per the KonMarie method, I’ve been thinking about the things around me that don’t give me joy. At the top of that list was my pajama game. Or rather, lack thereof. 😉 So I donated a couple of old pieces and bought this NAP tee (in coral) and these super lightweight joggers to sleep in.

Midnight eye recovery. Back when one of my kids was a newborn, I was (understandably) waking up every morning with noticeably puffy eyes. I tried this, and whenever I used it, I’d wake without the puffiness. I’m better rested now, but I’d still like young-looking eyes for as long as possible, so here we are. 🙂

Eating

Very low grains and sugar! Have you ever reached a point where you are SO ready for a change that even though it’s a pain, it doesn’t really feel like one? That’s how this transition has felt. I admittedly didn’t hold up quite as well against sugar during the most recent two weeks my husband spent in China (solo parenting is rough!), but I’m treating this like a marathon and carrying on! It helps that I have my health as a motivator. (Last month on Instagram I shared that I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease in late 2016. Blah.) 😉

Loving

It’s only February, but I can already tell this will be one of my favorite online reads of 2017: The Year of Conquering Negative Thinking

Practicing the Danish art of hygge this rainy winter. (How’s the weather been in your neck of the woods?)

Did you know that if you shake your iPhone, you can undo?! Particularly useful when you accidentally paste text.

Working On

A slight rebrand. I’ve loved the name Let Why Lead for five years, so I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I feel like it’s time for a name that more easily conveys what this space is about! If you type in letwhylead.com, you’ll still land here by way of a redirect, but the primary domain will soon be switching to ericalayne.co, with the blog title “The Life On Purpose Movement.” Fresh feels good.

I also started a new Facebook page! The Purposeful Parenting Movement. If I can get this page to grow, I envision moving the majority of the parenting content I share on my main page over to this new one. So be sure to hop over there and follow! (And thank you!)

I hope 2017 is off to a good start for you. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you being here! Oh and let us know in the comments if there’s something you’re really into right now!

Love this post and your blog! I’ve wanted to read that book as well. With two babies it’s easy to collect things and feel overwhelmed.

SO true, Caitlin! Now that I’m out of the baby stage (mixed feelings about that one!), I have to say I was surprised by how much STUFF we got rid of. You really do accumulate with little ones. It doesn’t last forever, though!

I love the changes you’ve made! Although I will miss Let Why Lead, you certainly have a sense of vision and I’m sure you’re headed in the right direction.

What am I in to? Harry Potter! About to read the final chapter in the last book and after several months of reading I’m feeling quite accomplished. 😉 My 11-year-old pleaded for me to read it after she finished the series last May. I could never really get into it before that, but man am I going to miss that story! Loved it.

Oh fun! I can relate—I’ve never really been able to get into it. I think I was just a little too old when they first came out? I read the first one but didn’t feel the need to read on. Now, though, my son has been asking me to read them, and I AM more tempted… I think I’d appreciate the intricacies of the story much better now that I’m older. 🙂
